The awards organisers bestowed this honour on Globacom for the company's commitment to subscribers' empowerment as well as pursuit of high quality of service.
Managing Director of Daily Independent Newspapers, Mr. Ted Iwere declared that in addition to world-class customer service and high quality of service on the Glo network, the company's continuous ‎investment in infrastructure and commitment to the passions of the people, appear to be the cornerstone of its policies with millions of direct and indirect beneficiaries.‎
According to Iwere, from inception, Globacom came all out with a strong determination to shake the industry for good and this it did with its innovative products that saw many Nigerians rushing to the network.
“It was not surprising that just about eight months into its operation, Glo Mobile,  Globacom’s cellular arm, made history as the fastest growing network in Africa by reaching an unprecedented 1 million subscribers mark and covering over 87 towns in Nigeria," Iwere said.

“Twelve years down the line, Globacom has become a truly national carrier that every Nigerian can be proud of with over 35 million subscribers on its network. Besides, Globacom has kept the Nigerian flag flying across Africa and it is today considered as the country’s biggest corporate export with footprints in Ghana, Benin Republic, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire and The Gambia, Iwere added.
The citation reeled out the achievements of Globacom to include the launch of the Glo 1 Undersea cable to boost bandwidth provision for West Africa; pocket-friendly telecoms services, pioneering avant-garde Value Added Services, supporting literary activities, sponsorship of Nigeria's national football teams and the Nigerian Premier League, encouraging entertainment and youth-oriented programs and continuous improvement of its backbone infrastructure.
The citation recognised that Globacom has of recent become the preferred network of corporate Nigeria, inspired by the recent commencement of network renewal and infrastructure swapping project which the company entered into with world acclaimed  major equipment manufacturers.

Receiving the award on behalf of Globacom, Globacom's National Sales Coordinator, Northwest, Mr. Sam Edoho, thanked the organisers of the awards for recognising Globacom and according the network a pride of place in history.
He assured that the network would remain committed to improving its services and putting the customer first in its business strategies and objectives.
“No doubt, Globacom is seen as one of the strongest and best networks in the country today, yet, the telecom company believes its services can only get better with bigger capacity. This was the intention of the company when, about a year ago, it signed contracts with four giant telecommunications equipment vendors for the upgrading and expansion of its network. The expansion is to upscale the network to the latest technology in global telecommunications”, the citation read.
