Telecoms Ofcom is committed to a thriving telecoms sector where companies can compete fairly and businesses and customers benefit from the choice of a broad range of services. This section is dedicated to information and research for the telecoms industry.

The General Authorisation Regime

The telecommunications licensing regime has now been replaced by a general authorisation regime with the General Conditions of entitlement (that is, conditions which apply to all) and specific conditions (that is, conditions which apply to individuals). This area ets out the General and Specific conditions.

Next Generation Access, Mobile policy, Broadband services, Narrowband (Voice and Internet) Policy, Implementation of BT's Undertakings, ECC, Metering and Biling, Non-Geographic Call Services, Premium rate services (PRS), Calling line identification facilities and Network and Interconnection Policy

Telecoms numbering

Provides information about UK Telephone Numbers, allows Communications Providers to apply for Telephone Numbers from the National Numbering Scheme and provides information on Numbering policy.
